Sam Heughan dropped a detail on the filming of "Outlander" season 3 during his first day back on the set.

Starz released a video where the actor, who portrays the role of lead character Jamie Fraser, showed a behind-the-scene footage of one of the first scenes for the upcoming season.

Based on the video, Heughan and the rest of the cast were busy filming the epic war scenes during the Battle of Culloden. This proved that the series will pick up exactly where it left off in season 2.

Fans of the fantasy historical drama could remember that Jamie sent his pregnant wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) back to her own time to ensure her safety since both of them know that Scotland will lose against the British army in the Battle of Culloden. But while the series featured what happened to Claire and their child Brianna (Sophie Skelton) in the 1960s, viewers of the show were kept in the dark about what transpired in Culloden after Claire transported back in time through the mysterious rocks of Craigh na Dun.

Since Heughan is currently filming back in Scotland, it means that the series will finally shed light to the events that happened during the fall of the Scottish Highlander culture in Culloden Moor.

Meanwhile, Starz released the synopsis for the show's third season. According to the press release that was spotted by Outlander TV News, the events of the third season will be based on the third book in Diana Gabaldon's best-selling "Outlander" novels titled "Voyager." This will show how Jamie and Claire will deal with their forced separation.

The synopsis reads:

"As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire's heart... as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?"

"Outlander" season 3 is slated to return sometime in 2017.
