"Outlander" season 3 will start with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Catriona Balfe) far apart from each other. In the new season, fans will follow the lovers across time as they find their way back to each other's arms.

It's no secret that Jamie and Claire will reunite. The question is when that will happen. Right off the bat, executive producer Maril Davis wants fans to know it won't be instant.

"I would hate to see them together immediately. Like I said, we're still kind of figuring that out, but you should feel that 20 years has passed and it shouldn't be easy," Davis explained to Entertainment Tonight.

"That's a huge separation for them and they think they'll never see each other again," she went on to say about Jamie and Claire's situation going to "Outlander" season 3.

Meanwhile, Davis also spoke about Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Claire's relationship in "Outlander" season 3, and if the former will continue to believe her mother's tales of time travel.

"I think we felt that, in the end, she believed her mother, but she's still coming to terms with it. In season three, we're talking about Claire's decision of whether or not to go back and there are still challenges there, so the door I think is still open for that," Davis explained.

Claire with be wrestling with the idea of leaving her daughter to return to the time. This will be Claire's dilemma come "Outlander" season 3.

Having experienced Brianna's love and affection, Claire starts to question if leaving her will be the right thing to do. Of course, this will be the puzzle piece for her reunion with Jamie in "Outlander" season 3.

As for Murtaugh's (Duncan Lacroix) fate, fans have a reason to worry about him. While Jamie survives the war, Murtaugh won't make it.

The new season of the Starz drama will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book "Voyager." There will be plenty of scenes on a ship so "Outlander" season 3 will be big on Caribbean.

Filming for the third season will begin around late next month or early September. No premiere date is set yet, but fans are promised a shorter Droughtlander.
