The moment that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) have been dreading the most is about to happen in the finale of "Outlander" season 2.

For the entire season, the Frasers have been doing everything that they can to stop the epic Battle of Culloden from happening to save Scotland's Highland culture from extinction. But their efforts are not enough to stop Prince Charles from instructing the Jacobite army to embark on the deadly battle with the Red Coats.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, executive producer Maril Davis revealed that the upcoming 90-minute season 2 finale, titled "Dragonfly in Amber," will be highly emotional.

"I don't cry any more at playbacks; I really don't because I've seen the stuff so many times. I cried like three times [watching the finale]," the executive producer said. She also revealed that both the music and the plot written by the writers add to the tone of the upcoming episode.

Davis also warned fans to prepare to be brokenhearted after the upcoming episode.

"I mean, Caitriona and Sam are heartbreaking. Get your tissues and your whiskey 'cause you're going to need it," the executive producer stated.

Based on the trailer, Jamie and Claire will have to make a very difficult decision regarding their relationship as the Battle of Culloden takes place.

The upcoming episode will also feature the debut of the adult version of Jamie and Claire's daughter Brianna, portrayed by actress Sophie Skelton. She will appear in the flash forward sequence to 1968, when she and Claire embark on a journey to Scotland to attend the funeral of Reverend Wakefield (James Fleet).

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, Claire will finally reveal the truth to her 20-year-old daughter about her time travel to the 1700s, as well as her real parentage. Brianna will also meet Reverend Wakefield's adopted son Roger, who will be portrayed by Richard Rankin.

The final season of "Outlander" season 2 is slated to air on Saturday, July 9, but Starz will feature a 12-episode marathon before the season ender, on July 2.
