'Outlander' season 2 finale spoilers: Andrew Gower drops mysterious clues about season finale

Andrew Gower unveiled a cryptic hint about what to expect during the extended finale of "Outlander" season 2.

Speaking with Yahoo! TV before the finale airs on Saturday, Gower talked about his character, Prince Charles Stuart, as well as his very famous catchphrase, "Mark me."

According to the actor, he used the biography written by Frank McLynn to get inspirations for portraying a highly important historical figure. He said while it is necessary to research for the background of a legendary real-life character through books and experts, there came a point that he also had to close the books and focus on the script so he can create his own version of the character.

Gower also explained that his now famous slogan "Mark me" was not actually mentioned in the books written about the Bonnie Prince, but he made it a vital part of the character after he first used it.

"There was a speech in the brothel, and from that point I wanted to build on that. I kept adding a few more "Mark me's" because it felt like his way of demanding attention and saying, 'This is my moment. Pay attention,'" the actor said.

But when asked what is in store for the finale episode of "Outlander" season 2, the actor dropped several puzzling clues about the episode titled "Dragonfly in Amber." According to the actor, "I am going to give you very short, mysterious clues — wax, an unfinished battle, and more God. It is going to be a great, great episode. Not to be missed."

Meanwhile, the episode will also feature the debut of the adult versions of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Rev. Wakefield's (James Fleet) adopted son Roger (Richard Rankin).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Ronald D. Moore explained the importance of both characters in the development of the story.

"The role of Roger and Brianna grows over the course of the books. But at first, you're just seeing the two of them for briefer periods of time. So yeah, all these things add up to a very complex process, trying to find the woman who would fit all these parameters," Moore said.

The final episode of "Outlander" season 2 will be aired July 9 on Starz.
