The year is almost over, which means that the sophomore season of Starz' "Outlander" series will soon return to TV. But up to this point, the actress who will portray the role of Brianna Randall is still unannounced.

In a recent interview with BBC News, "Outlander" series author Diana Gabaldon admitted that the casting for Jamie Frasier (Sam Heughan) and Claire Beauchamp's (Caitriona Balfe) daughter is still ongoing.

Since Brianna is one of the most favorite characters in the novels, the people behind the show are taking their time to find the right person to portray the role. "They're being very careful with the casting as they have been with everyone else and I'm sure they will find the appropriate character," the author said.

In the books, Brianna is known as the second child of Jamie and Claire, but she grew up during the 1960s knowing that her father is Frank Randall. She reportedly followed her mother back in time to know more about the father that she never met without the knowledge of her mother.

The character description for Brianna was released in August, stating that Starz is looking for an actress who will portray the role of a 20-something American female who is "strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor." Those are reportedly the traits that she got from her mother and biological father. But she grew up with a scholastic mindset because of the guidance of Frank.

Meanwhile, new images from the set of "Outlander" season 2 were posted in the show's official social media accounts.

One of the photos reveals that the staff of a lavish mansion was busy preparing for an elaborate feast, while another one shows an empty long table topped with intricate setting. The final photo released in time for the Thanksgiving shows Claire and Jamie enjoying a grand feast with a group of noble people.

"Outlander" season 2 is slated to premiere sometime in 2016.
