Fans of Starz's historical sci-fi drama "Outlander" would revel at the latest development of the British-American TV series, after photos taken from the set of its sophomore season appeared online.

Scottish online journal Daily Record recently posted several pictures showing "Outlander's" production crew filming in one of Scotland's country parks. Based on the set of images, Glasgow's Pollock Country Park was turned into a 1700s-themed set where some of the scenes for "Outlander" season 2 will be filmed. It is just one of the many places in the country where the TV series is being filmed.

The main plot of "Outlander" season 2 is set primarily in France after Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) left Scotland to escape the trauma that Jamie endured in the hands of Black Jack (Tobias Menzies) in season 1. However, the report claimed that most of the action for the upcoming season will still be based in Scotland.

Graham McTavish, the Scottish actor who portrays the role of Dougal MacKenzie in the critically-acclaimed series, explained why the country is a perfect backdrop for "Outlander."

"Scotland is a key character in the story and a character that could only be portrayed by the real country," he said. "Its lighting and people are all authentic and that's crucial to the show."

But while "Outlander" season 2 will not air until 2016, it seems like series showrunner Ronald D. Moore is already looking forward into the series' future.

"Outlander" is based from the novels written by Diana Gabaldon. Season 1 focused on the events that were written in the 1991-released novel of the same title, while the upcoming sophomore season is based on "Dragonfly in Amber." But speculators claim that the next book installment titled "Voyager" will be divided into "Outlander" seasons 3 and 4.

But will Starz divide the next book into two seasons?

"We've talked about it, but no decisions have been made. I haven't really focused on that yet," Moore shared with Three If By Space during an interview held after the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. "We've always talked about generally doing a book a season, but these are books that are just big and complicated, but once you do that, ok, are we ever going to get to the end? You start thinking about how many years we're talking about, I don't know. I really don't know the answer to that."

Starz has yet to announce the official release date of "Outlander" season 2.
