A new Randall is expected to appear in "Outlander" season 2.

The Wrap exclusively revealed that actor Laurence Dobiesz has been tapped by Starz network to portray the role of Alex Randall. He is the younger brother of the ruthless villain Black Jack Randall, played by Tobias Menzies.

According to the report, Alex and Jack are polar opposites. The latter is known for making life difficult for Sam Heughan's Jamie and Caitriona Balfe's Claire, and even tortured and raped Jamie before the end of the show's first season. But Alex is nothing like his brother, who is known to be gentle, kind, and loving. Alex is also the assistant and curate of the Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow).

The TV adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's bestselling novels is currently filming its second season in Scotland. It will reportedly feature the journey of Jamie and Claire in France as they try to gain access to the heart of the Jacobite rebellion, which is being spearheaded by Prince Charles Stuart. They will also attempt to stop the battle of Culloden.

The couple will be assisted by Jamie's cousin Jared (Robert Cavanah) to be able to adapt easily to the posh French culture.

Series creator Ron Moore recently talked with Deadline to describe his plans for Gabaldon's novels in the timeline of the TV series.

"The general plan is probably to try to do a book a season," Moore shared. "Some of the books are bigger than others so we've definitely had conversations about, 'well, you know, at some point we may need to split a book into two seasons,' but right now we're not there yet."

However, Moore said that the second season of "Outlander" will be slightly different from "Dragon In Amber," the novel in the book series.

"Outlander" season 2 is expected to come out in 2016.
