'Outlander' season 1 finale: Jamie deals with aftermath of traumatic imprisonment in 'o Ransom a Man's Soul'

Jamie (Sam Heughan) faces a very traumatic event in the hands of Captain Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) in the season finale of Starz's Outlander Season 1. Starz

The first season of Starz's romantic fictional historical drama "Outlander" is drawing to a close, but the nerve-racking events are not dying anytime soon.

If the events during the penultimate episode titled "Wentworth Prison" are an indicator of how dark and gruesome the season finale will be, then it means that the season finale will showcase one of the most gut-wrenching episodes in the series.

The official synopsis for the episode titled "To Ransom a Man's Soul" reads: "Jamie is freed following a daring rescue, but his mind lingers on the torture he endured."

Does this mean that Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) is successful in helping Claire (Caitriona Balfe) rescue Jamie (Sam Heughan) from prison? Still, it does not mean that Jamie manages to dock out of Jack Randall's (Tobias Menzies) evil plans.

Back in episode 15, Randall saved Jamie from his impending execution, but he wanted a big prize out of it by submitting his entire body and soul. Jamie strongly refused but Randall was very persistent. Just when Claire attempted to free Jamie from the cell, Randall took hold of her. To save Claire, Jamie decided to give in to Randall's demands despite her pleading. But Randall took advantage of the opportunity and immediately tossed Claire out of prison and physically and emotionally tortured and abused Jamie.

E! News recently warned fans of the show to prepare to see the most disturbing scene taken from the entire literary series written by Diana Gabaldon, on which the series is loosely based. According to the report, viewers will see "the ugliest scene even on TV." Then it will be immediately "followed by the most beautiful scene ever on TV," in just an hour-long episode.

Several spoilers claim that this episode will show Jamie's struggles in dealing with the aftermath of the rape that he endured in the hands of Randall in place of Claire, and it will also feature Claire's announcement of her pregnancy with Jamie's child.

The season 1 finale of "Outlander" is slated to air on Saturday, May 30.
