Before Tatiana Maslany received her very first Emmy nod by grabbing the Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series award Sunday night, the actress dropped some hints about the future of her characters in "Orphan Black" season 5.

In an interview with TV Guide during the red carpet for the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, the actress revealed that her multiple characters in the critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller will have different fates.

"They're all probably going to have different ends," Maslany said in the interview. "Some of them might not be happy, and some of them might be ... a little tragic."

This could mean that the lives of some of the Leda clones might be on the brink next season. However, Maslany did not specify who will survive or who will perish in the fifth and final season of "Orphan Black."

At the end of season 4, Sarah Manning was last seen bleeding to death on the beach while Cosima was brought to her ex-lover, Delphine (Evelyn Brochu), in a secret location. On the other hand, Rachel seemed to be happier compared to her Leda sisters since she was last seen on her way to meet the Neolution founder named P.T. Westmoreland.

But despite winning an Emmy, the actress told TVLine that she will be "extremely sad" to say goodbye to her multiple characters once the filming for the final season of "Orphan Black" begins.

Meanwhile, one of the showrunners, Graeme Manson, told TVLine in a separate interview during the red carpet at the Emmys that the series normally tries to explore a different branch of modern science each season. But for season 5, they will try to tackle the interesting subject of prolongevity and life extension.

However, he opted not to reveal if they will introduce new clones in season 5. Instead, actor Jordan Gavaris joined the conversation to reveal that the series may not include new clones next season, but there are several clones who are "out there and we haven't met them yet."

"Orphan Black" season 5 is slated to premiere on BBC America sometime in 2017.
