'The Originals' season 3: Danielle Campbell discusses new regent responsibilities; new cast members

The third season premiere of "The Originals" is still a couple of months away, but spoilers for the upcoming season are slowly being revealed.

BuddyTV recently sat down with Danielle Campell to discuss the changes that will happen to her character Davina when "The Originals" returns next season.

Davina was hailed as the new regent of the witches' clan, which means that she will have more power and responsibilities in season 3. The new regent also developed a stronger rage against Klaus (Joseph Morgan) after he took away her final chance of bringing Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) back to life. Fans of the series will remember that in season 2, the Mikaelson siblings brought their mother Esther (Alice Evans) back to help them defeat their aunt Dahlia (Claudia Black) to protect Klaus' daughter Hope.

But despite her fury, Campbell said that Davina will concentrate all her energy in taking care of her people.

"She has to be strong for her people," Campbell revealed. "She has to do what's best for them, and I think that's going to force her to make decisions that she's uncomfortable with, but at the end of the day, she's going to need to figure out how to make her people respect her and understand her and she's going to struggle with that."

The actress also said that Davina will not be afraid of anybody anymore, but she will try to stay as far away from the vampires for a time being. However, she and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) will always have a special bond.

Campbell also said that there will be a lot of characters in the history of the vampires, werewolves, and witches that will be introduced in season 3.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter reported that "H2O: Just Add Water" star Andrew Lees was tapped to portray the role Klaus' first sire Lucien, who is an "intelligent, charming, wildly successful and at ease with princes and paupers alike. He prides himself on being two steps ahead of everyone else."

Also, actress Rebecca Breeds from "Pretty Little Liars" will join the cast to portray the role of Aurora, a free-spirited witty seductress who is also known to have an extremely violent dark side. However, it is not yet confirmed if she will be Rebekah's (Claire Holt) first sire.

Another character named Detective Will Kinney will be portrayed by actor Jason Dohring.

"The Originals" season 3 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 8.
