'Once Upon A Time' season 5 spoilers: New key art showcases a blazing new Hook

With Hook looking as good as dead in the Underworld, Emma and the heroes are running against the clock in order to save him before it's too late. But it does not look like they will do that in a breeze when "Once Upon A Time" season 5 returns after its winter hiatus.

ABC just released a promotional image featuring Hook, who has never looked fierier. The darkness of the key art accentuates the handsome pirate's piercing blue eyes, making them look like they are balls of flames that sear into one's soul.

In front of Hook's dead serious façade is a blazing apple, which almost always means trouble in the fairytale and Disney world. That being said, Hook is getting into quite a big mess in "Once Upon A Time" season 5, probably worse than death, which is exactly what brought him in the Underworld in the first place.

Before the midseason break of the hit fantasy series, Emma made a heartbreaking sacrifice of killing her one true love in order to eliminate Darkness for good, only to find out that it was a sinister element that would be harnessed by Rumple. The sacrifice was, in the end, wasted.

Now, Emma is bound to retrieve Hook's soul from the Underworld in "Once Upon A Time" season 5 and Hook's blazing soul should reflect that of the key art. As co-creator Adam Horowitz already made known, the Hook that Emma will find in the place may not be the same person she knew and loved.

"He's gone through a lot, as has Emma — as have all of them — so no one's the same," Horowitz told The Hollywood Reporter.

But this change is not in a Dark One kind of way. After all, that darkness is no longer in him. It will be a really big challenge for Emma to locate the pirate in the Underworld for sure.

"Once Upon A Time" season 5 returns to ABC on Mar. 6 with an episode called "Souls of the Departed."
