'Once Upon a Time' season 5 spoilers: Queen Regina could save Emma from the dark side

Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) will save Storybrooke from the new Dark One. ABC

Now that the supposed "savior" of Storybrooke Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) has crossed over to the dark side, someone has got to step up to fill in her role in "Once Upon a Time" season 5 while her loved ones try to bring her back into the light.

Does this mean that former Evil Queen Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) will fill in Emma's role in the upcoming season?

In a recent interview with BuddyTV, Parrilla exclusively revealed that things will be different for the Evil Queen in season 5, saying, "I think Regina's going to become the savior this year and the hero."

If her hunch is correct, then the Evil Queen's new role in Storybrooke will not be that surprising since she has already proven in the last few episodes of season 4 that she can move past her vicious persona . At that time, she helped Emma's parents Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) in tricking the Queens of Darkness to learn about their plans. However, Parrilla is not sure how her character can actually help Emma next season.

"We don't know what's going to happen, and Regina is very experienced when it comes to sort of crossing over into the dark side and committing evil acts," the actress said.

However, the former Storybrooke baddie also admitted that she is deeply worried that Emma might not be able to return again to her true self. She is also concerned about the welfare of Emma's son Henry, who will become the new Author this season.

Meanwhile, a new casting report from TVLine claims that the show is now looking for an actor who will portray the role of a medieval manservant who is deeply loyal to his employer despite keeping a strong resentment toward him. This fury could eventually prompt him to do something evil. The report did not specify who employs the said manservant, but he could be working for King Arthur.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 premieres on Sept. 27.
