iPad Mini 3 vs iPad Air 2 vs Nokia N1: Battle of the new tablets

Nokia dropped a big surprise yesterday, as the Finnish company unveiled its very first tablet product known as the Nokia N1. 

After the company sold its phone-manufacturing rights to Microsoft in 2013, the N1 will be the first device that the company will release to the public, to happen sometime in 2015. 

But what can the new Nokia tablet offer that other similar devices in the market have already featured?  Here is a comparison between the new N1 and Apple's latest tablet line, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3: 

Display and Dimensions

The new Nokia N1 will reportedly come in a 200.7 x 138.6 x 6.9 millimeter aluminum body that weighs 318 grams. It will have a 7.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that features 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution with 324 ppi pixel density. 

Meanwhile, the Apple iPad Air 2 is released with a 240 x 169.5 x 6.1 millimeter body and weighs 437 grams. It has a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that has 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution with 264 ppi pixel density. 

Apple's smaller but equally new iPad mini 3 has almost the same dimensions as the N1, a with 200 x 134.7 x 7.5 millimeter body that weighs 331 grams. It also has a 7.9-inch screen with 1536 x 2048 pixels featuring 324 ppi pixel density, but compared to the Nokia tablet, the iPad mini 3 has an LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. 

Internal Features 

The Nokia N1 is equipped with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 chipset with PowerVR G6430 GPU. It also has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. 

iPad Mini 3 Apple

Both of Apple's tablets have 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB internal memory options, but the iPad Air 2 comes with a 2 GB RAM while the iPad mini 3 only has a 1 GB RAM DDR. 

Camera 

Both the N1 and the iPad Air 2 have 8-megapixel primary rear cameras with autofocus functions, while the rear camera of the iPad mini 3 only has 5 megapixels. 

However, the Nokia N1 has a better secondary front camera, which is 5 megapixels, while both the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3 only have 1.2 megapixel front-facing cams.
