After weeks of speculations, HMD Global has finally confirmed the arrival of Nokia 7 Plus in the market this year. Showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, the Finnish tech firm's latest budget-friendly handset is introduced as the first-ever Android One phone under the Nokia label. While the design and features of the new Nokia 7 Plus are what people would expect from a midrange smartphone, this latest offering is different from the previous devices due to the Android Go program.

According to the latest report from the MWC event in Barcelona, the Nokia 7 Plus is based on the Android Oreo OS. The device sports an aluminum unibody build and a 6-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a total resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The Nokia 7 Plus has a tall appearance with 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels.

Aside from the mentioned mid-tier features of the Nokia 7 Plus, what actually makes this smartphone special is the Android One system. HMD Global places the Nokia 7 Plus, along with the other newly unveiled handset, Nokia 8 Sirocco, under the Android Go program that gets rid of bloatware on Android devices. Likewise, as an Android One phone, the Nokia 7 Plus users can expect receiving regular software and security updates.

Going to the Nokia 7 Plus's camera department, the smartphone boasts a dual-lens rear camera, which is developed in partnership with the Carl Zeiss company. The dual-camera setup is a combination of a 12 MP wide-angle lens and a 13 MP telephoto lens. Together, the two-lens combo delivers a 2x optical zoom, consistent with the previous smartphones with a dual-camera build. On the front panel, the Nokia 7 Plus features a 16 MP snapper.

The Nokia 7 Plus has Qualcomm's midrange mobile processor, the Snapdragon 660, along with 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 64 GB built-in storage. The handset's storage can be expanded up to 256 GB with its single microSD slot. It is packed with a 3,800 mAh battery that can be charged through a USB-C port. The Nokia 7 Plus still keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Nokia 7 Plus will hit the shelves sometime in April, costing around USD $490 or €399.
