There is a new batch of information regarding the specs and features of the Nintendo NX, courtesy of a Reddit user who goes by the name "untypedhero."
This particular user has gone through verification by Reddit and is proven to have connections with Nintendo development that he claims he has. But as always with leaks, it is still recommended to take this report with a pinch of salt.
According to the source, the Nintendo NX sports an x86 architecture. It reportedly can back up data on the Nintendo server, with the NX software able to unlock My Nintendo reward points.
On the hardware side of things, the Nintendo NX is said to have support for an additional screen. It is purportedly even powerful enough to handle ports of current-gen games.
That being said, gamers can play Xbox One and PS4 titles on the upcoming Nintendo console. Games from Ubisoft and EA could be playable on the Nintendo NX, with a previous report suggesting that Nintendo is working on collaborating with the developers.
On top of all this, the source claims that the Nintendo NX can also connect to smartdevice apps. This could mean that mobile games may also be supported on the device.
Lastly, the Nintendo NX is expected to be a home console. Previous reports and leaks have claimed the same thing, adding that it will come with a handheld controller as well.
Of course, with Nintendo still tight-lipped about their console project, there's no telling if this will all pan out. Nevertheless, the source's claims sure make the Nintendo NX a compelling console.
The Nintendo NX is expected to be released later this year. Titles like "The Legend of Zelda," "Destiny 2" and "Call of Duty 2016" will allegedly be made compatible with the console.
Nintendo has promised to provide more concrete details about it this year, but with virtually no official information out and about, the company may not be ready to talk specifics about the device yet.
