Nintendo NX release date, specs news: Bethesda games could be coming to console

The lack of game support ultimately led to the downfall of the Nintendo Wii U, but such might not be the case for the highly anticipated Nintendo NX, with developers ready to back it up.

Bethesda Softworks, the esteemed studio behind the blockbuster game series "Fallout" and "Elder Scrolls," has pledged its support for the Nintendo NX.

"We talk to Nintendo all the time--we're pretty well briefed in on what they are doing," Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines revealed during an interview with Finder.

"It's definitely something we will look at; and our philosophy is that we will put our games out on any format that supports the games as we envisage and make them," he went on to say.

Bethesda is known for its ambitious and graphics-heavy titles. It has always been notorious for pushing the envelope in consoles and making the most out of game engines.

The studio has already said that the current-generation consoles won't handle what they had planned for "Elder Scrolls 6." But if ever Nintendo NX has the power, the game probably might end up there.

"If the NX fits that from a technical standpoint, and fits the game that a developer in our stable is making, I don't see why we would not put it out on NX," Hines said.

"But it's too early to say, 'We'll definitely be putting games out or not.' Like with mobile, we want to have the right fit for the right formats," he continued.

Nintendo has not spoken about the NX for a while and has kept things on a lid. Just like what Hine emphasized, they are willing to bring games to the Nintendo NX as long as it has what it takes.

At the moment, "Dragon Quest X" and "The Legend of Zelda" were confirmed for the Nintendo NX. Activision has expressed its interest as well, but like Bethesda, it depends on how the console turns out.

The Nintendo NX is expected to be released early next year.
