Nintendo NX release date update: Big reveal expected to come out during TGS 2016

After Sony announced the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro during the PlayStation Meeting in early September, Nintendo is expected to follow suit and unveil the highly anticipated Nintendo NX console in the coming days.

A report from The Wall Street Journal claimed that the Japanese video game manufacturer will make an announcement about the Nintendo NX during the Tokyo Game Show that will begin on Thursday, Sept. 15. But other reports speculated that more updates about the upcoming gaming platform will be dropped sometime in October.

While the Kyoto-based game company is keeping mum about their plans for the big reveal, Bethesda's vice president of PR and Marketing Pete Hines revealed in an interview with Metro UK that they are in talks with Nintendo about their possible partnership in the future.

Hines recalled that they created several "Star Trek" games for Nintendo, and they are currently considering to come up with more games for their upcoming console if possible. But the game development company still needs to talk with them first. "Nintendo, as a maker of a platform, you want to constantly be in touch with them, to see what they're doing, where they're headed, and whether or not there might be some opportunities down the line, with where they're going," Hines stated.

But if the specs of the upcoming Nintendo NX would be on par with Microsoft's existing Xbox One or better, Hines said that they could absolutely consider creating a game for the upcoming console. "Okay... let's say they come out and say tomorrow it does X, Y, and Z. Well, Dishonored 2 is way down the road, it's not in the conversation. But anything that is in development, I think we'd take a look at and see if technically does it line up with what they're doing?" the Bethesda exec also said.
