The latest edition of Nintendo Direct that was posted in April revealed a lot of the upcoming plans and releases from the game studio.
During the 48-minute video, the gaming company talked about what fans should look forward to in the coming months. It includes the latest updates on Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., as well as the latest inclusions that will come to Wii U Virtual Console.
Here are the news highlights from April's Nintendo Direct live stream update:
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS
The Japanese gaming company announced some of upcoming update releases for the Smash Bros. DLC. One of them is the upcoming release of Pokémon Mewtwo this month. Those who managed to register the game with Club Nintendo before the end of March can get the DLC for free by April 15, but those who failed to do so can still purchase the character on April 28.
Another character will also be included in the roster of fighters for Super Smash Bros in June, once "Mother 3's" fan-favorite Lucas had been released.
The update 1.0.6 that comes with several notable bug fixes and improvements will also be unveiled very soon.
Amiibo
A brand new set of Amiibo will be introduced for Super Smash Bros. series on May 29. It will include several popular characters like PAC-MAN, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Wario, Greninja, Lucina, Robin, and Ness. Then in July, Dark Pit and Palutena will be included in the game. On the other hand, Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, Dr. Mario and Bowser Jr will be included in the game in September.
Also, a very different form of Amiibo is announced to be unveiled this Fall. This type of Amiibo will now come in form of a card. Aptly called "Amiibo Card," the first characters that will be released in this form will be based on the characters from Animal Crossing, and it can be compatible with the "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer" game.

The latest indie games that will be released in Nintendo consoles were also presented during the recently concluded Nintendo Direct. It includes the "Adventures of Pip" from Tic Toc Games, "Don't Starve: Giant Edition" from Klei Entertainment," "Mutant Mudds Super Challenge" from Renegade Kid, and "Octodad: Dadliest Catch" from Young Horses, Inc.
