Rumors linking Nina Dobrev to ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed seem never ending despite the actress' decision to leave "The Vampire Diaries" where she and Somerhalder played lovers.

Celeb Dirty Laundry recently reported that Reed intends to rekindle her friendship with Dobrev after learning that the latter is now happily dating Austin Stowell. Now that Reed and Somerhalder are married and Dobrev is also seeing someone else, speculations claim that Reed is once again planning to reach out to her former friend.

According to reports, Reed and Dobrev used to be really close after meeting each other during a PSA shoot for a health insurance campaign. But things turned sour after Reed began dating Somerhalder, who Dobrev dated for three years while working together on The CW supernatural drama.

Meanwhile, the cast of "TVD" said during the 2015 Comic-Con panel that Dobrev's character could still return in the series. Somerhalder and co-stars Paul Wesley, Michael Malarky, and Candice Accola all believe that there is always a possibility that Elena will come back and wake up from the curse.

"I think that's what's fun about this series. You never know when characters are going to leave, you never know when they're going to come back. That's been a constant for six seasons, now. So the fact that, for such a big departure, that it is left open-ended, is really true to the show," Accola said.

Dobrev has yet to comment about what her former co-stars said regarding her possible return to "TVD."
