Nexus 6 vs iPhone 6 specs comparison: Android vs iOS battle continues

Apple's successful venture into the bigger smartphone territory last September when the iPhone 6 was released is being threatened by Google, as the company worked alongside Motorola to come up with their latest flagship phone called Nexus 6 that promises to rock the world of its competition.

But before the Nexus 6 reaches store shelves in the coming weeks, here's a look at the specs comparison between Google's new smartphone and Apple Inc's iPhone 6.

Design and Screen Display

Apple finally decided to come up with bigger screens with iPhone 6, and its much bigger sibling, the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display with a 1334 x 750 pixel resolution. This is also the first time that the Cupertino company veered away from the stiff iPhone style by making the edges of the iPhone 6 more curvy and thinner.

Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 will be released with a 5.96-inch QHD display screen with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It will also carry the typical Moto design similar to the earlier released Moto X.

Operating System

Since both the iPhone 6 and the Nexus 6 are built to become the flagship phones of their manufacturers, they are expected to come out with the latest operating systems. The iPhone 6 is powered with Apple's latest software, the iOS 8.1. Meanwhile, Google will showcase the newest Android version 5.0 Lollipop once the Nexus 6 and its cousin, the Nexus 9 tablet, rolls out in the market.

The Nexus 6 is packed with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7 GHz and Adreno 420 graphics under the hood. It also has a 3 GB RAM and an internal storage option between 32 GB and 64 GB.

In comparison, the iPhone 6 comes with Apple's very own 64-bit A8 processor and M8 motion co-processor. It has 1 GB RAM and 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models.

Both devices have no microSD slots for possible memory expansions.

Camera

Apple is known for its amazing camera features in all its flagship phones. The iPhone 6 has a clear 8-megapixel primary rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. Meanwhile, Nexus 6 comes with a more impressive 13-megapixel primary camera with 2-megapixel secondary front facing camera.

Though it is hard to determine which among these smartphones should reign supreme in the market today, the only winner here is the buying public who has more choices according to their needs.
