Nexus 2016 rumors: release date tipped for August with Android N

The Nexus 2016 will debut with the Android N in August, as per reports. Google Nexus Website

The Nexus 2016 is expected to be revealed together with Google's newest mobile operating system Android N, as it always was in the older versions of the smartphone.

Android N is expected to be ready by late summer, which makes it likely that the long-rumored Nexus 2016 will also be out and about by that time.

Google will be releasing five builds of the mobile OS every month until the official rollout. The first one was released March, and the final one should drop by July.

That being said, the Android N will likely be released in its full form by August. Since Google likes to release new smartphones along with its new software, the Nexus 2016 will debut the OS and will become the first device to ever don it.

As for what the Nexus 2016 device will be all about, reports say it will be a new and improved version of the Nexus 7. Other reports say they will be sequels to the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

The former will have a 5-inch display while the second one will sport a 7-inch screen. Some reports say it will not be 7-inch but 5.5-inch only. They will both be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM to boot.

Reports provide no information on the internal storage space the Nexus 2016 handset will offer, but it is being implied that the micro SD card slot on the device will allow for 2TB expansion.

It remains to be seen which tech firm Google will collaborate with for the Nexus 2016, although reports say that the software giant is looking to work with Taiwan-based tech company HTC again.

The company was the one that developed the Nexus One and Nexus 9, which was received well by Nexus fans. It won't be a surprise Google wants to tap the tech firm for Nexus 2016 once more. The potent HTC 10 is also proof Google won't go wrong with the company.

While users wait for the Nexus 2016 to be fully unmasked, they are advised to keep an eye out on the progress of the Android N, whose beta 3 should be out next month.
