Nintendo finally included amiibo support for the new "Super Smash Bros." for 3DS. It is featured in the new patch that was released on Feb. 10.
NintendoLife earlier revealed that the new 1.0.5 update would come before the New Nintendo 3DS is made available all over the North American and European markets on Feb. 13. The free update adds, for the first time, the ability to activate the amiibo toys on the 3DS consoles by scanning their NFC. Prior to the update, this capability was only included in the Wii U edition of the best-selling game.
Aside from the amiibo support, some of the contents of the Nintendo "Smash Bros." 1.0.5 update include:
- Capacity to share photos, replays, as well as Mii Fighters to other players by uploading to the dedicated servers. The data will be deleted after 30 days.
- Option to post photos to the Miiverse community while playing the game.
- Several enhanced features.
- The removal of the local multiplayer mode found in the 1.0.5 and earlier versions, while the replay data seen on the 1.0.4 and earlier versions will no longer work after downloading the 1.0.5 update.
The New Nintendo 3DS is the latest handheld gaming console from the Japanese gaming company. It comes with built-in NFC technology that is very ideal when using amiibo figurines. The earlier versions of the console like the original 3DS, the 3DSXL, and the 2DS do not have a built-in scanner, which is why the update is needed to be able to enjoy playing with the character figurines.
Japan was the very first market to have the opportunity of buying the new Nintendo 3DS console since it was released in the country as early as October last year.
The company managed to sell over 5.7 million amiibo toys all over the world, which is why the new "Super Smash Bros." update could be very useful for players who want to enjoy playing their figurines on their handheld consoles.
