The recently concluded Nintendo Direct revealed a big news for all Amiibo lovers, as a new set of characters will be released in the game-supported figures.

During the scheduled live stream announcements from Nintendo on April 1, the Japanese gaming company announced that several characters from the Super Smash Bros. series will come in the figurine Amiibo forms on May 29.

The new Amiibo characters that will be released on the said date include Pac-Man, Wario, Ness, Greninja, Lucina, Robin, and Jigglypuff, among others.

Then Nintendo also scheduled the release of Palutena and Dark Pit in Amiibo form in July, followed by the release of Dr. Mario, Zero Suits Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, and Bowser Jr. in September.

However, it seems like one of the soon-to-be released Amiibos will be a retailer exclusive.

According to an April 2 post of GameStop on its Twitter account, Ness will be released exclusively on their online and retail stores starting this week.

Meanwhile, three more Amiibo will be released on May 29 together with the new paint-based shooter game for Wii U called "Splatoon." The three Amiibo figurines will be based on the characters of the game, which includes the Inkling boy, a squid, and a girl. These items will be available individually, but can also be purchased as a set that is included in the Splatoon three-pack.

Based on the announcement of Nintendo, the Amiibo figurines for Splatoon can be used to unlock all the special missions in the Wii U game. When they managed to complete all of the game's missions, the players can receive several gears and special weapons that are not available anywhere else.

Aside from the Super Smash Bros. and Splatoon Amiibo announcements, the Japanese gaming company also announced that there will be a couple of new Amiibo styles that are now already available. One is the yarn Yoshi Amiibi that will be an accessory to the "Yoshi's Woolly World" game and the card-based Amiibo, which is compatible with the "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer" game for Nintendo 3DS.
