New MacBook Pro 2018 release date, specs latest news: All-new laptop will not be unveiled until 2019

There has been speculation that Apple would launch an all-new MacBook Pro during the company's fall event this year. It has been a while since the pro-level Mac laptop got a major upgrade, but according to the latest reports, the public will need to wait another year to see the MacBook Pro refresh.

In a recent interview with Tech Crunch, Apple's senior director of MacBook product marketing, Tom Boger, has confirmed that the much-awaited update to the 2013 MacBook Pro model will not be released this year. Instead, the brand new laptop is expected to be unveiled sometime next year. A bunch of reports has already surfaced in the past few months, suggesting that the new Mac Pro would be announced in late 2018, which is the typical period when Apple launches the new MacBook products. However, it appears that the Cupertino-based tech firm is not yet ready to introduce its new tech.

"We want to be transparent and communicate openly with our pro community so we want them to know that the Mac Pro is a 2019 product. It's not something for this year," Boger revealed in the interview.

It is worth noting that Apple's main reasoning for the 2019 release date is not due to any sort of manufacturing issues. The company is said to be mindful of its current pro-level hardware collection, which might be affected if the new MacBook Pro is released sooner.

Specifically, Apple expects that the new iMac Pro will likely be a hugely popular model and could crossover with those who would be interested in purchasing a new MacBook Pro. By releasing the new Mac laptop in 2019, customers will be given ample time to decide which pro-focused hardware they would prefer.

In terms of the new specs and features of the MacBook Pro 2019, Apple has yet to confirm some of them, although Boger mentioned the possible modular setup of the hardware.

The current design of the MacBook Pro does not allow users to change the laptop's core parts, which led to demands to make the future Mac Pro modular. A modular MacBook Pro could be similar to the iMac Pro's current design, in which there are RAM slots and a socket for the processor that can be filled by owners, should they feel the need to upgrade.
