New 'Jurassic World' augmented-reality mobile game like 'Pokémon GO'

No matter how desperate Niantic may seem in trying to get the big player base of "Pokémon GO" back to the game, it cannot be denied that the company has somewhat pioneered augmented reality (AR) gaming for mobile. Now, it seems like "Jurassic World" will be having its own mobile game based on or similar to "Pokémon GO."

Universal, the company behind the revived series of "Jurassic Park," which is "Jurassic World," has recently confirmed the game featuring the latter and is named "Jurassic World Alive." Players will be considered as scientists in the game and as such can take advantage of the multiple features of the game.

With their mobile devices, players can collect different kinds of dinosaurs that they can find using their phones. With these dinosaurs, they can create their own hybrid dinosaur using dino DNA — pretty much like what happened in "Jurassic World." There will be combative gameplay as well in which the dinosaurs can battle against that of other players.

Removing the feature of hybrid dinosaurs and replacing dinosaurs with Pokémon, it definitely seems like a different version of "Pokémon GO." However, one key difference between the two is that in "Jurassic World Alive," players would no longer need to move out of the house to look for dinosaurs although the game will still be map-based.

"There's definitely that element of discovery, but we wanted to make it a little more flexible and also give you something to do at home," said Universal executive VP of games, Chris Heatherly, per Mashable. There will be an in-game drone that can be sent out to collect DNA from dinosaurs around the area.

It is quite interesting to see how the game will implement the hybrid dinosaur feature. This is especially considering that there will already be 100 dinosaurs at launch and hundreds of combinations can be made. There is no release date yet but gamers can pre-register on the official website.
