It looks like Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) are not the only ones who will become parents when "New Girl" returns. If the latest report is anything to go by, someone else in the gang will be expecting a child in the seventh season.
TV Line claims that the first episode of "New Girl" season 7 will feature "a *r**n**c* surprise." Although the site did not spell the term "pregnancy" completely, it clearly refers to a bun in the oven.
It was reported previously that the final season of the show would follow the main characters as they each hit major milestones, leading up to "a big one" in the series finale. Details are sparse at the moment, but if the pregnancy does happen, it could possibly be the major event promised to the fans.
It is still unclear who might be expecting, but there are hints that the soon-to-be parent will be the show's main girl, Jess (Zooey Deschanel).
Deschanel had been pregnant twice in real life since she starred in the Fox sitcom. Fans expected the show to embrace her situation onscreen, only to see it completely ignore the actress' pregnancy on both times. Now that the show is coming to an end, the showrunners could finally grant everyone's wish of seeing Jess becoming a mother. After all, it does not seem far-fetched with how things ended last season.
In the season 6 finale, Nick and Jess were seemingly getting back together, as they were seen making out in an elevator. With the last run picking up three years after, the "will-they won't-they" couple may have already rekindled their romance. Assuming they will have a solid relationship through the years, the most plausible direction to go would be marriage.
Nick and Jess have been the series' one true pairing since the beginning, so it makes sense to see them marry. Johnson himself even thinks the same thing. He previously responded to a Twitter Q&A saying that he is also expecting the characters to tie the knot.
At this point, fans can only speculate. But, whether or not they will have a baby, Nick and Jess should still get a proper closure.
No official release date has been given, but "New Girl" will be back on Fox for its final season with eight episodes.
