'New Girl' season 6 spoilers: Jess finds herself going after Nick

Will Jess and Nick be as sweet as they are in the photo in "New Girl" season 6? FOX

There's still a chance for Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) to get together, and although the latter is happy with Reagan (Megan Fox) at the moment, "New Girl" season 6 might not end that way.

In an interview with "New Girl" creator and executive producer Liz Meriwether teased that the "door is definitely not shut" for Jess and Nick to rekindle their romance.

Seeing Nick and Reagan together made Jess realize she still has feelings for the former. It looks like she will act on those feelings in "New Girl" season 6.

"It's a new dynamic between them, where now she's the one who is really pining after him. Earlier, in season 2, he was kind of pining after her, so the balance has shifted," Meriwether told Entertainment Weekly.

As for the possibility of Fox reprising her role in "New Girl" season 6 even though she was only "called in to fill in for Deschanel's absence. Meriwether said that they "love" Reagan and her chemistry with Nick.

Apart from that, "New Girl" season 6 opened up to a new side of Nick. "Nick dating Reagan shows how much he has grown too; he has the confidence to be with her," Meriwether explained.

"In order to get Nick and Jess back together, both of the characters [would need] to grow a lot and change or realize what went wrong in the last relationship," she added.

As for Winston (Lamorne Morris) and Aly (Nasim Pedrad), fans can expect their relationship to blossom in "New Girl" season 6.This means that viewers will see more of Aly in the new season.

In "New Girl" season 6, Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) will experience the fun and mayhem in marriage as they enter their first year as husband and wife.

"New Girl" season 6 premieres Sept. 20 on FOX.
