While Zooey Deschanel takes her time recuperating after giving birth to a baby girl last August, her cast mates on "New Girl" are going to take over at the start of the show's fifth season.

Previously, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) tried to get rid of all things that reminded him of Cece (Hanna Simone) in an effort to finally move on from their failed relationship, but he proposed to her in the season 4 finale. Unexpectedly, Cece accepted his proposal. Now, the couple will start the upcoming season preparing for their wedding.

In interview with Entertainment Weekly in late August, Greenfield teased about how Schmidt and Cece will handle their wedding plans in season 5. According to the actor, his character will instantly turn into a Groom-zilla in the middle of the wedding preparations.

"New Girl" creator Liz Meriwether first teased about this plot at the end of season 4, saying that Schmidt has the tendency to lose his cool while making sure that everything is perfect for the wedding, compared to his future bride.

"Schmidt, in our idea for the season, becomes obsessed with the wedding planning, in a way that, stereotypically, a woman would. He is very focused on throwing the best wedding of all time," the series creator said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter

Meanwhile, the actor also said that Cece's typically smooth ways with girls will be challenged when her mother (Anna George) drops by to get to know the man who will marry her daughter.

"She comes in on the fly and wants to meet this guy," Greenfield said. "She isn't thrilled with Schmidt. Schmidt is stressed out. He wants to make this thing work."

Meanwhile, there are no details on how Deschanel's character Jess will make her best friend's wedding extra special when she returns to the series after her absence.

Filming for the fifth season of "New Girl" is expected to start sometime in October, while the premiere episode is expected to air sometime in winter.
