With the likes of augmented-reality (AR) games such as "Pokémon GO" and soon to be "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite," the realm of AR games is definitely one worth exploring. Speaking of exploring, "Ghostbuster" fans will get to roam around and play the new AR game "Ghostbuster World."

The gameplay mechanics of this new AR game is presumably quite the same as "Pokémon GO." The Ghostbuster players will be using their smartphones to catch specters, ghosts and apparitions. There are not many details known about the game yet but more will be revealed during the Game Developers Conference in March.

The ghosts will surely come from everywhere in the franchise from the films and TV shows to the video games and theme parks. "Ghostbuster World" will be developed by the company of Ghost Corps, Dan Aykroyd, and Ivan Reitman. It will be published by 4:33 Creative Lab with Sony behind the game's production as well since they, after all, have the rights to the franchise.

Although it is sure to be released soon, Android Authority reports that a demo version will be previewed at the Mobile World Congress. Since Sony is behind all of it and that the company behind the series tie-ins are also developing the game, fans can only expect authentic "Ghostbuster" features. The exciting part is how these would appear in the game.

"The Ghostbusters universe is rich in characters and Ghostbusters World is the perfect medium to get to know these characters in a whole new dimension," said Reitman, as per Engadget. Hopefully, it does better than "Pokémon GO." The Pokémon AR game had a huge release with millions of players downloading the game.

A few months into its release, the game gradually declined. There is still a considerable amount of players in the game though as Niantic continues to drop content every now and then.
