Netflix movies to watch for Thanksgiving and December 2014

Since most TV shows will begin their winter hiatus before Thanksgiving weekend, Netflix already released its roster of shows to watch during the upcoming holidays.

For the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend, Netflix prepared a number of movies that the whole family can enjoy, including:

"Planes, Trains and Automobiles"

Steve Martin's classic holiday film deals with his character's eventful journey home for Thanksgiving, where he was stuck with John Candy. It is one of the staple films featured this time of the year.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"

It would be a good idea to review the events that happened in the life of District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) before heading to cinemas to watch "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1."

"The Birdcage"

Another classic family-oriented comedy starring the late Robin Williams will also be featured on Netflix this coming holiday. The actor's rapport with Nathan Lane would definitely keep everyone laughing.

"Nebraska"

Those who want to catch a heart-warming comedy would surely love this Oscar-nominated film by Alexander Payne. This film would make viewers feel extra grateful for spending the holidays with their loved ones.

"Silver Linings Playbook"

Another Jennifer Lawrence starrer, this highly emotional film that also features Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro is a perfect tearjerker for family gatherings.
