'NCIS' season 14 spoilers: cast gets an overhaul with new series regulars

Agent Gibbs CBS

The leave-taking of Agent Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly) closed a chapter and opened up a new one, which will be tackled in "NCIS" season 14.

The new season of the most watched drama will hit the big old reset button and will see the show start over as it zeroes back in on Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and other original characters while integrating new ones.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg told TV Line (via IB Times) that in "NCIS" season 14, he is "super-eager to reset, to move on and move forward... and get back to the lightness and the mystery that NCIS is known for."

In an interview with Deadline, Glasberg said that even though one of its original characters won't be in "NCIS" season 14, the show will be the same and that it will allow him to focus more on Gibbs and the gang.

Apart from that, he also looks forward to fleshing out new characters, specifically the duo introduced in the "NCIS" season 13 finale -- FBI agent Tess Monroe (Sarah Clarke) and MI-6 agent Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry).

Glasberg believes that they have the chops to be part of the crew. Their performance in their debut—Monroe's wiseacres and Reeves' charm and action moves— shown in the episode prove that they have a spot in "NCIS" season 14.

"So I feel like all of the elements are there that we can hopefully deliver on, to test and try and hopefully find the right fit," Glasberg said. Last week, the two have been confirmed as series regulars for "NCIS" season 14.

It looks like Gibbs and the crew will be back to getting to know to new colleagues at work in "NCIS" season 14. It will definitely be exciting to watch how it all turns out as the show also attempts to go back to its roots.

"NCIS" season 14 is expected to premiere this fall.
