'NCIS' season 13 finale spoilers: last opportunity to enjoy Tony DiNozzo

Tony DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) time in service is almost up as the finale of "NCIS" season 13 is right around the corner.

In the penultimate episode of season 13, the team learned that the person responsible for killing the other NCIS agents and threatening the life of Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) is former CIA officer Trent Kort (David Dayan Fisher). This was why the team had to go all the way to Tel Aviv to make sure that nothing bad happens to Tony's love interest.

But while Ziva's return to the series for the season 13 finale is still uncertain since the location where she was supposed to be staying was eaten by fire, Weatherly told E! News that the character will play a very important role in Tony's decision to leave the team.

"Her presence in the final episode, I think that audiences will feel very strongly that she's in the episode in a way that might be a little Shakespearean but it's real. I think it's going to be a very exciting time for the fans of that relationship," Weatherly said.

The actor was also asked by USA Today how he would like to describe Tony's last episode in the series, a role he has portrayed since 2003. The actor said that it would be difficult to tease what is in store for the fans in the upcoming season 13 finale.

"In classic NCIS style, I don't think there's enough space on your page to give you a really complete synopsis [of Tony's final episode]. It's confusing, action-packed, incredibly emotional, unpredictable, and yet totally entertaining on both a simple and complex level," the actor stated.

The explosive finale episode of "NCIS" season 13 is scheduled to air on Tuesday, May 17, on CBS.
