Immediately after the 12th season premiere of the hit Navy drama NCIS, fans will be introduced to a brand new crew of naval investigators in a new city in NCIS: New Orleans.

This is the second spin off of the widely popular CBS drama. The first one, which is also highly-acclaimed, is called NCIS: Los Angeles.

Though the plot for the new spin off is yet to be announced, the creators already mentioned that a lot of familiar faces will visit New Orleans in its upcoming pilot season.

During the TCA Summer Press Tour that happened last July, the show's executive producers Jeffrey Lieber, Mark Harmon, and Gary Glasberg divulged some vital information about the guest appearances of familiar stars in the new series.

"We're currently planning an episode that's coming out where Gibbs will make an appearance. There will be crossover between the two shows," Glasberg shared. "We have a storyline where Michael Weatherly is involved, where Pauley Perrette is involved, David McCallum. That's the fun of what we have here is having that interaction."

There are also reports saying that FBI Agent Fornell, played by Joe Spano, will also be on his way to New Orleans to appear this fall.

On the other hand, Michael Weatherly, who is known as Tony DiNozzo by the fans of the series, had already started filming with the New Orleans crew. He even posted several behind the scene pictures of him and the people behind the spin-off to tease fans.

In one of his Twitter posts, Weatherly posed with NCIS: New Orleans' Scott Bakula, who will portray the role of Agent Pride in the series. The picture showed the actors goofing off on the set while filming what seems to be an investigative scene.

NCIS: New Orleans will debut on September 23, right after the first episode of NCIS Season 12 airs on CBS.
