Fans can expect to see a lot of changes when the seventh season of "NCIS: LA" premieres this week. Based on earlier spoilers, the first episode of season 7 will showcase a lot of new plot developments, which will alter some of the main characters' core.

Since the spin-off series of the long-running police procedural drama "NCIS" started, G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) has been on a quest to look for his real family after running away from the foster home when he was younger. Now it seems like his search will finally be over this season, based on statements from series creator Shane Brennan.

"The very heart of what this show is Callen's search for his family and this whole identity theme that runs through his particular story," Brennan told TVGuide. "So, thematically, everything we do this season, with all of the characters, at its heart it's about family. And where we end up at the end of the season is a story that is right at the heart of what a family is and what a family will do together."

In the previous season, Callen discovered that his father is still alive. This could mean that he and his estranged dad may be reunited this season and he may just get the closure that he has long been searching for. But based on Callen's reaction when Hetty (Linda Hunt) told him about his father in the season 6 finale, it will take a while before things could actually sink in.

Based on the synopsis for the season 7 premiere titled "Active Measures," Callen will turn rogue and Hetty will order the rest of the team to stop him from pursuing his plans before it's too late.

"NCIS: LA" season 7 episode 1 will air on Monday, Sept. 21, on CBS from 10 to 11 p.m. Fans can also catch the episode via the network's online streaming service called CBS All Access, which is currently for free through a one-month trial offer with Fall TV.
