"Nashville" is officially ending this summer.

CMT has announced the series finale and midseason return date for the hit musical drama, according to reports. New episodes will start airing on Thursday, June 7, at 9 p.m. EST, with the series finale scheduled to air on July 26. Hulu, the show's exclusive subscription video on demand (SVOD) home, will still make the episodes available for streaming one day after they air on the network.

More drama and new faces await viewers, as the show will finally introduce Deacon's (Charles Esten) father, Gideon (Ronny Cox) in the last few episodes. Described as a "crusty, frustrated, would-be musician," Gideon is one of the people who resents his son's success in the entertainment industry.

In addition, season 6 will introduce Rosa (Mia Maestro), one of the devoted followers of Darius' (Josh Stamberg) group. She will later on have doubts about her position in the movement, which causes a complication for Darius.

"I can't say much about that except since she is one of the followers of the movement in Bolivia," showrunner Marshall Herskovitz told Entertainment Weekly, adding, "That tells you we're going to Bolivia."

Similar to Rosa, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) might also be wanting to cut ties with the movement. "I think it's safe to say that Juliette's coming back," Herskovitz continued. "What happens when she comes back, what she's like when she comes back, I cannot talk about, but I think it's going to be a great ride."

CMT launched the sixth and final season of "Nashville" on Jan. 4. The series garnered its best L+3 numbers at the time, breaking the record previously held by its season 5 midseason premiere in early June of last year.

The network serves as "Nashville's" second home. It initially debuted on ABC in 2012 but the premium cabler suddenly canceled it in May 2016. A month after being axed by ABC, the drama was picked up by CMT for a fifth season.
