'Nashville' season 5 renewal, premiere date: if it's not renewed. show will get 'satisfying' alternate ending

Fans might find out Juliette's fate in "Nashville" season 5 after all. ABC

Fans are still fighting for "Nashville" season 5 and so do the people who make up the show. After ABC shocked viewers of the drama by cutting it short, the journey to find it a new home immediately began.

The cancellation was especially painful because it ended with a cliffhanger, where Juliette's (Hayden Panettiere) plane en route to Nashville went missing.

With no "Nashville" season 5 in sight, fans were left to wonder what happened to the country music sensation. At the moment, the search is on to find the musical drama a new home, but if they fail do to so, Lionsgate TV chairman and CEO Kevin Beggs doesn't plan on keeping this a mystery forever.

"I'm sure we would figure out a satisfying way for audiences to see an alternative ending — but it won't be as good as the ending we have given them," he told The Hollywood Reporter of their plan if "Nashville" season 5 won't happen.

"In a perfect world, we'd be making this show for many more seasons. Our hope and intention is to have an asset that continues to grow for many years," he went on to say.

According to Lionsgate, there are other networks, four to five have shown their interest, who want to bring "Nashville" season 5 to viewers and fulfill the company's plan to continue the story of Juliette and Rayna (Connie Briton) for the years to come.

That being said, "Nashville" season 5 is not so impossible after all. Add to that the fact that the cast of the show are in for the long run and are signed up for a long-term deal.

An online petition to renew "Nashville" for season 5 is 29,000 signatures away from completion. While it does not guarantee renewal, it does show that fans are devoted to the beloved series.

"Nashville" ended its run on NBC last month, on May 25, and was cancelled two weeks before that. ABC pulled the plug on a lot of shows, with "Agent Carter" and its planned spinoff "Marvel's Most Wanted" axed along with "Castle" and "The Muppets" aming others.
