"Narcos" season 2 will see the inevitable death of the main character, Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura. The cast and crew recently filmed the death scene, and they did so in meticulous detail.

"Escobar had a photographer who was with him and there are incredible photos taken by DEA agent Steve Murphy at the time of his death," executive producer Eric Newman told AFP.

"We've recreated the actual death scenario based on those pictures so it's as close as we can be," he continued. This ultimately confirms that "Narcos" season 2 will mark the demise of Moura's character.

The question now is how the show will go on with the main character now gone. According to reports, "Narcos" season 2 won't be the end of the series.

Even though Escobar in the series is dead, it doesn't mean that the Netflix drama will meet its end as well. Even though it pains Newman to see Moura's character go, it was how the show was designed and the fate of the character is inescapable.

"That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending," he said via Slash Film.

Newman, however, has an idea on how he will get the show going even after "Narcos" season 2 already saw Escobar's passing.

"There are any number of things that can happen after. We have not committed to one or the other. Obviously there are a lot of other stories in this world that continue on beyond him," Newman said last year.

"Narcos" season 2 is currently in production. It is expected to premiere on Netflix this August. The first season ended with Escobar escaping prison. In real life, he had only 18 months to live after that getaway.
