A new character is joining the fray in "Mr. Robot" season 2. Indian-American actor Aasif Mandvi was added to the ensemble for a recurring role.

Mandvi will play a special agent named Jesse in the second season of the drama–thriller. Not much is known about the character except for the fact that he is "a bit of a dog."

The comedian won't be the only new face viewers will see in "Mr. Robot" season 2. Like Mandvi, Craig Robinson also snagged the recurring role of Ray, Elliot's neighbor who asks for the hacker's help.

Guest-starring in the cyber thriller are Joey Badass, who will play Elliot's close friend Leon, and Chris Conroy as Derek, an attractive young man who will be linked to Joanna.

As what series creator Sam Esmail emphasized in an interview with Vulture, "Mr. Robot" season 2 will heavily involve the FBI, which is why Grace Gummer is on board as FBI agent Dominique DiPierro.

The character, who is a series regular, will be the one investigating the hack of Evil Corp orchestrated by Elliot in the freshman run of "Mr. Robot."

"Elliot committed a crime in the first season, and we're going to see ramifications of that in the second season. That drives a lot of what the second season is all about," Esmail said.

The series creator added that he had help putting "Mr. Robot" season 2 together from tech consultants in Infosec (information security) and an individual from the FBI Cyber Crime unit.

Esmail said that "Mr. Robot" season 2 will be all about encryption or the process of effectively achieving data security. He believes that this theme will hold up for "the next ten years."

"I think we should have encryption ... if our show at least contributes to that conversation, I think it'll help in terms of getting people to join this debate, because it's an important one," he said.

USA Network has yet to lock in a premiere date for "Mr. Robot" season 2.
