Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Motorola Droid Turbo 2 news latest: Verizon resumes software rollout

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is finally getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow treatment. Verizon is finally recommencing the rollout of Google's latest mobile operating system to the 5.4-inch smartphone.

Users will remember that the U.S. carrier began the Marshmallow rollout last month but suddenly stopped the distribution for reasons the telecommunication company is yet to clarify to this day.

From the looks of it though, it looks like Android 6.0 Marshmallow needed more polishing before it was fully released as Verizon conducted a soak test prior to the re-release of the operating system to the Motorola Droid Turbo 2.

As users would expect, Android 6.0 Marshmallow packs big features for the Motorola Droid Turbo 2. The most noteworthy of which is the feature called Doze, which helps prolong the battery life of the device during standby time.

This is done by putting the device in a state called deep sleep. During this mode, apps running in the background will automatically be closed to conserve juice. Motorola Droid Turbo 2 already has impressive battery life but Android 6.0 Marshmallow definitely makes the most of it.

In line with this tweak, users will notice an improvement in the Do Not Disturb mode, where users can choose which apps and contacts can notify them. Still in the display department, the new Attentive Display dims the screen when the phone is not in use.

The software also introduces an all-new and secure system where users are given the ability to accept or deny permissions in apps.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 users will also love the new Google Now on Tap, which displays information on what is on the screen. Android 6.0 Marshmallow also expanded the volume controls, which means there's a control for the ringtone volume and a separate one for the media and alarm volumes.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow also adds the Direct Share to help users share a conversation within a supported app to selected contacts. Lastly, the software also brings in the Moto Assist, where users can have the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 automatically read the messages for users.
