Moto X5 2018 release date news: Evan Blass teases X4 successor; Moto E5, G6 also in the works

The Moto X4, to be succeeded by the Moto X5 Motorola Website

Motorola's smartphone release plans for next year seem to be busy as ever. Not only is it slated to launch the Moto X5, it is reportedly working on the Moto E5 and Moto G6 as well.

Famed tipster Evan Blass teased the release of Moto X4's successor on Twitter, posting an image of its logo on Tuesday, which follows a very similar design to that of the X4. While one could say it is just a simple Photoshop job, Blass does have a reputation for reliably leaking unannounced products, so patrons can safely assume Motorola has already started on the next-generation X smartphone.

At this point, there is no word on the design and features of the Moto X5. However, as 2017 is coming to a close, more details about the handset should come through thick and fast in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Blass also hinted that a few more handsets are in the works at the company. The Moto E5 and Moto G6 lineup is expected to launch next year as well, consisting of three models: Play, Plus, and a standard one.

He asserts that Motorola is bringing back the "Play" variant, which is meant to be more affordable than the base model, after excluding it last year from the G4 lineup. Again, it is too early to say what features the E and G series will be offering this time, but they should come with upgraded processors, Android versions, and hopefully, cameras.

Release details are unknown for now. If history is any indication, though, there is a good chance some of them will debut next spring, most likely at the 2018 Mobile World Congress in February, and ship to Asian and European territories shortly after.

As for their price, they should fall around their predecessors' price range. To recap, X4 starts at under $400, while the G5 launched outside United States for €199 ($236). The E4, on the other hand, is the cheapest of the three, starting at a very affordable price of $130.
