Moto X 2014 vs Microsoft Lumia 535 specs comparison: New smartphone players

Microsoft is trying to edge out smartphone competitions by releasing Lumia 535, the very first Lumia product that will come out in the market without the Nokia brand. The new, mid-range smartphone aims to provide an affordable yet highly-functional device that could cater to the needs of more budget-conscious consumers.

But can it stand against other mid-range phones like the recently re-released Moto X? Here's a look between the two devices from the new smartphone players in the market today.

Internal Features

The second-generation Moto X comes with a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset with quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. There are two internal memory options, namely the 16 GB and 32 GB varieties, both having 2 GB RAM. However, the Moto X has no microSD card slot for memory expansion. The smartphone runs using Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system, but may soon be updated with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Meanwhile, Lumia 535 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset with quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and Adreno 302 GPU. It comes with an 8 GB internal memory with 1 GB RAM, yet the memory can be expanded up to 128 GB because of its microSD slot. Microsoft's new smartphone runs using the Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.

Camera

Between the two smartphone devices, Moto X 2014 features the better camera, with a 13-megapixel primary phone that has dual LED flash and autofocus capacities as well as a 2-megapixel secondary camera.

The Lumia 535 features a 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and autofocus, with a 5-megapixel secondary front-facing camera for better selfie shots.
