'Mortal Kombat X' Kombat Pack 2 DLC rumors, news: characters in next expansion pack?

Mortal Kombat X DLC - Kombat Pack 2 announcement NetherRealms Studios

After "Mortal Kombat X" director Ed Boon announced that four new characters will be released as part of the next Kombat Pack 2 DLC, fans of the critically acclaimed fighting game are already talking about who will be included in its second expansion pack.

In Boon's earlier announcement via Twitter, he posted an image bearing four silhouettes with the caption "Who's Next?" Based on the silhouettes, players are now speculating on the characters who will be added to the game in the next DLC release.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment posted the official announcement of the release of the next downloadable content for "Mortal Kombat X" earlier this month, saying:

"Today Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed that NetherRealm Studios is developing new downloadable content (DLC) for 'Mortal Kombat X,' the best-selling game of 2015 to date according to US NPD. The new content will include four new playable characters, skins and a new environment, all of which will be available in the first half of 2016."

Some of the names that have been mentioned in reports include various ninja characters, namely Baraka, Smoke and Noob Saibot, all from "Mortal Kombat II."

Another profile seen in Boon's post is believed to be any of the iconic "Mortal Kombat" characters Rain, Sindel, and Fujin. The third shadow appears to have a helmet and a chest orb, which could mean that it could either be Sektor or Cyrax. The fan-favorite kung-fu master Bo' Rai Cho, known for being a drunken fist master, is also believed to be a part of the upcoming DLC release.

But while there are no confirmations of the names of the characters, a report from Design & Trend says DC Comics characters like Joker and Batman won't be included in the latest "Mortal Kombat" installment.

The first "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack DLC was released with four playable characters, namely Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" series, Predator from the popular sci-fi horror film franchise, "Mortal Kombat 4's" Tanya, as well as Tremor from "Mortal Kombat: Special Forces."

Players would have to wait until Warner Bros. announces the official list of new characters for the next "Mortal Kombat X" DLC pack.
