The most-awaited "Monster Hunter" game, "Monster Hunter: World," will be coming out early next year. Many wonder how long the main game would last since the beta version released last week only gave a demo. Although most other details of the game have been reserved until gamers get the game, the game's director at least mentioned how long it will take to finish the game.

Director Yuta Tokuda was recently interviewed by German site/publication Mein-MMO.de via Gematsu. On the topic of how long the game will take, Tokuda said, "I guess it will take about 40 to 50 hours, depending on the type of player, to complete the story."

Although this may seem excessive to some, the director explained why the game would take so long. He reasoned, "But it wouldn't be a monster hunter game if it had no content that you could enjoy in the back. Players can continue to forge and upgrade their favorite weapons and armor after the story is over."

That said, judging the game's content by the number of hours it takes to finish is quite unfair, especially since the game takes fewer hours to complete compared to previous titles in the franchise. On the "Monster Hunter" games on the PlayStation Portable (PSP), most of the fans lasted around 100 hours, as displayed by doing a search in howlongtobeat.com.

However, even then, this does not account for the future possible downloadable contents (DLCs) and expansion that the team may release in the future. It is also good to note that this is just Tokuda's estimate. As he also mentions, there will be more to come for the game. "Not only that! We will also put out weekly event quest and free updates that players can enjoy post-launch," says Tokuda. Those updates may just come in the form of a DLC.

For those who have not tried the game yet, "Monster Hunter: World" is having another beta this weekend on Dec. 22 until Dec. 26. Preloading is already available right now, and it no longer needs a PlayStation (PS) Plus subscriptions. The game is set to launch on Jan. 26, 2018 for the PS4 and the Xbox One, while a PC version will be out at a later date.
