'Modern Family' season 8 spoilers, premiere: Father's Day celebration brings the entire family together

 ABC

The Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker households will honor their fathers when "Modern Family" returns for season 8 in September.

E! News exclusively revealed that the entire family will be reunited to celebrate Father's Day after spending time away from each other for vacations in New York, Mexico, and the Midwest. But after the festivities, the family will face their usual messy lives.

According to the report, Claire (Julie Bowen) will find it hard to deal with Jay's (Ed O'Neill) return to work, while the hot sauce business that Gloria (Sofia Vergara) started will finally reap its success. On the other hand, Phil (Ty Burrell) will continue to enjoy his odd hobbies in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the Tucker-Pritchett family will see a lot of interesting guests in their upstairs rental unit in "Modern Family" season 8, while Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam's (Eric Stonestreet) daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) will experience the growing pains of being a tween.

Meanwhile, the Dunphy kids Haley (Sarah Hyland) will try her luck in starting a business, while her sister Alex (Ariel Winter) will deal with her medical condition while struggling with her school work at Caltech.

The eighth season of "Modern Family" will also feature another explosive Halloween-themed episode, due to Jay's controversial costume according to executive producer Steve Levitan. "Jay's big costume idea is him, Gloria and Joe are going to be Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and that leads to some problems," Levitan told Entertainment Weekly. "Jay is going to be Jesus on Halloween."

In related news, EW revealed that former "Castle" lead star Nathan Fillion will join the critically acclaimed comedy series in a multi-episode arc as the weatherman named Rainer Shine. Martin Short will also guest-star in the second season of season 8 as the promotional expert named Merv Schechter. He might lend a helping hand in Gloria's hot sauce business.

"Modern Family" season 8 premieres on ABC on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
