'Minecraft' modder incorporates 'Splatoon' game by Nintendo

While most of "Minecraft" fans are still waiting for the game's next update, one modder chose to be more creative and came up with a new mod that incorporates Nintendo's popular third-person shooter game "Splatoon" with the sandbox game.

Polygon first spotted the "Minecraft: Splatoon" mod created by SethBling. It can reportedly work on any 1.8 version of Mojang's highly successful sandbox game. According to the mod's description, it was designed specifically for 4v4, but it can still support teams of any size that are interested to play the game.

"Splatoon" was exclusively released for Nintendo Wii U last month. It requires players to shoot colorful ink at their enemies and other surfaces, while transforming to become a squid so that they can swim to hide themselves from their opponents, increase their speed, as well as climb up walls.

The video instruction for the "Minecraft: Splatoon" mod shows that three Minecraft items are used as Splatoon weapons, wherein the snowballs can be used as fast-firing Splattershot, the bow can be used as the Splat Charger, and the stick used as the Splat Roller. Players can also turn into a squid so that they can refill the ink, but its effect will only be useful in third-person gaming.

SethBling stated that he does not have an access to a Wii U console, which makes the game's map not 100 percent accurate. He mentioned that his friend PyroPuncher helped him develop the mod and played with him in the demo video.

The "Minecraft: Splatoon" mod maker is also known for coming up with different game remakes in "Minecraft," including mods using "Minesweeper," "Angry Birds," as well as the "Hungry Hungry Hippos" board game.

Meanwhile, the details about dual wielding for the next "Minecraft" 1.9 update have been released by Mojang's Nathan Adams.

The game developer said: "The way I want dual wielding to work is that it uses the right click action of your off-hand item if your main-hand doesn't have its own. For example; if you have a pickaxe in your main hand and a torch in your other hand, right click places the torch."

However, Mojang is still mum about the release of the "Minecraft" 1.9 update.
