Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Surface Book 2 release date: Devices to be released in June?

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book was released October last year, but there are already reports about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 being launched as early as June.

The new Surface Pro will reportedly be released early in order for Microsoft to compete with Apple's new MacBooks, which are rumored to be revealed in June during the Worldwide Developers Conference.

Will the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 show up as early as June? Microsoft

However, based on the statements of Microsoft expert Mary Jo Foley in a ZDNet report, a June release for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is highly unlikely. Foley said that the Redmond-based company won't unveil the device until next year.

The expert claims that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 will be released spring next year, which is more than a year since their predecessors was released. That being said, a June release date is out of the question.

In addition, Microsoft is reportedly using Intel's latest processor dubbed the Kaby Lake on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Pro 2. This powerful new chip, however, won't ship until the end of the year, making the June release more impossible.

However, according to Tech Radar, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 might hit the shelves a year after it was launched. With that said, the laptop might be here as early as October 2016. It is also safe to bet that the new Surface Pro will come with it.

As for the specs, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2 are rumored to boast 4K display, especially with the Kaby Lake on board. The former will reportedly boast a fingerprint sensor while both could be looking at rechargeable Surface Pens.

Meanwhile, Foley said that a Microsoft Surface (non-Pro) or even the Microsoft Surface Phone will be the ones taking center stage later this month.
