Microsoft Surface Phone release date: 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 830 packed into this entry level device?

Microsoft has big plans for the Microsoft Surface Phone, which is expected to bring the Redmond-based software giant back to the smartphone scene.

To beat its competition, Microsoft is going big on all aspects of the Surface Phone. On the hardware side, it is expected to come in three RAM configurations, 4GB being the entry level.

It is being rumored that the base model of the Microsoft Surface Phone will be fitted out with the said amount of memory with 128GB storage to boot.

The device is reportedly getting a 6GB RAM version and this model will purportedly offer a native storage of 256GB, which is only achieved by majority of premium handsets through microSD cards.

Last and definitely not the least, Microsoft's flagship smartphone will allegedly come in an 8GB RAM edition, which will be accompanied by an insane storage capacity of 512GB.

This unit, should it see the light of day, could be the first smartphone in the world to offer such, unless competing tech firms put out units of the same configuration before the Microsoft Surface Phone is released.

To bolster this impressive RAM power, Microsoft is allegedly looking to use an Intel processor. The company initially planned to use the Atom X3 for the flagship.

Unfortunately, this is no longer possible since Intel has officially cancelled the production of the chip in question just earlier this year, April to be exact.

Microsoft has another option though. Hot on the heels of the Intel shock, it was rumored that the company is now looking to use the Snapdragon 830 processor for the Surface Phone.

The chipset is reportedly built to support 8GB RAM, which should cater to what Microsoft envisions for the Surface Phone. The reports about this started when the said hardware was mentioned on the Windows Mobile support site.

The next-gen Snapdragon processor should be ready for show by next year in time for the highly anticipated unveiling of the Microsoft Surface Phone around spring.
