A brand new leak featuring the much-awaited Microsoft Lumia 650 has emerged. A live image of the device's prototype showcased the design of what could be the final Lumia handset from the Redmond-based tech company, with Microsoft Surface Phone believed to be on the way.

In the photo, the device donned the trademark Lumia design language. It sported rounded corners and on-screen buttons. The all new Windows 10 OS was also on display. The leaked image also seconded the rumors that the upcoming Windows 10 smartphone will sport a metal frame.

This metal frame comes as an upgrade to the high-end Microsoft Lumia 950, which was only given a plastic sheath despite its premium specifications.

As for the specs of the Microsoft Lumia 650, the device boasts a 5-inch 720p display that generates a pixel density of 293ppi. The handset will apparently have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 under the hood. Past speculation suggested it will be a Snapdragon 212 unit.

The device is also expected to offer 1 GB RAM. No word was mentioned on the storage space but it is highly likely that it will get at least 8 GB. GSM Arena is particularly let down about the 2,000-mAh battery, the smallest battery capacity from Microsoft.

It is important to note that the Microsoft Lumia 650 will not support LTE connectivity. In a nutshell, the device will be no more than a low-end handset so users expect a price that won't have them worrying about having to break the bank.

The handset recently received its certification from the FCC, hinting that the device is about to touch down soon. Just how soon, the tech firm is yet to divulge. But with its recent visit in the agency, the wait won't be that long.

Pocket-Lint believes that the makings of the Microsoft Lumia 650 show the Microsoft is setting the stage for the Microsoft Surface Phone. The company may not be going all out for it to save their energy for their upcoming mobile offering whose every component will come from Microsoft.
