Microsoft Lumia 1030 rumors: Device is canceled Nokia McLaren

Nokia Lumia 1020

Hopes of high-end smartphone fans were fueled by recent leaked reports about the alleged Microsoft Lumia 1030, an impeccably amazing handset that features a 50-megapixel shooter. However, Senior Verge Editor Tom Warren quickly denied the speculations.

In a correction posted on Twitter, Warren said, "There is no Lumia 1030 right now. The leaked device is the canceled Nokia McLaren. It was never a 50-megapixel camera, just around 20MP."

The news about the alleged release of what everyone believed was the first-ever high-end flagship phone from Microsoft came when a number of leaked reports from Chinese tech websites claimed that the Lumia 1030 will be the improved successor of the Lumia 1020, the first high-end phone from Nokia. Allegedly, the specs of the said Lumia 1030 came from the cancelled concept smartphone from the Finnish company before it was purchased by Microsoft earlier this year.

The rumors mentioned that the device will come out with a 5.8-inch touchscreen display featuring 1440 x 2560 Quad HD pixel resolution, which is a huge leap from its predecessor, which only has a 4.5-inch screen display and 768 x 1280 pixel resolution. Also, the supposed Microsoft Lumia 1030 will have a rear-end 41-megapixel PureView camera featuring LED and Xenon flashes, while its secondary front-facing camera is an 8.7-megapixel one. The so-called smartphone is said to be equipped with a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, an option of 32 GB or 64 GB internal memory, as well as a huge 4300 mAh battery.

The canceled Nokia McLaren was under development for quite a while before it was leaked. However, the company reportedly decided to abruptly stop its development and cancel the product for no apparent reason.

Now Microsoft smartphone watchers will have to wait for another announcement if the tech giant would actually release a flagship phone model in the future.
