For the first time in months, Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm spoke about the seven-time Formula One champion's recovery as she accepted the Inaugural Nurburgring Award on behalf of the racer.
"This award is an acknowledgement of his great willpower, his motivation, his talent, his discipline and his work ethic," she said, acknowledging the yearning of many to see Schumacher to be the one to accept the honor.
"We have to accept it and learn to deal with it. We will continue to hope and do everything so that it will be different again," Kehm continued. She also said that there's still "hope" that Schumacher will get back from this tribulation.
While there isn't much to take away from what Schumacher's manager said, and it appears she wanted it that way, the statement suggests that there's still a long way to go towards full recuperation.
For the uninitiated, Schumacher met a terrible accident as he was skiing in the French Alps in 2013. He was in a coma for months but has since been transferred to his home in Sweden to be with his family as he convalesces.
Last week, former Ferrari chairman Luca Di Montezemolo, who worked with Schumacher when he was the brand's head, revealed via Express that Schumacher is "reacting," something he was very "pleased" to know.
"I know how strong he is. I'm sure that thanks to his determination, which will be crucial, he will come out from this very, very difficult situation. And I really hope," Montezemolo continued, describing Schumacher as one of the best drivers in the history of Ferrari.
Schumacher is being attended to by a group of doctors in his home. Updates about his condition have been hard to come by as his family requested for media blackout. Even then, fans continue to hope and pray for Schumacher to be back on his feet again soon.
